Metformin tablets come in two strengths: 500mg and 850mg.

What are Metformin Tablets?

Meformin is a treatment for type 2 diabetes used with proper diet and exercise to treat high blood sugar levels.

How does Metformin work as a treatment for Type 2 Diabetes?

Metformin works by reducing the absorption of sugar from the stomach, reducing the release of stored sugar from the liver, and helps your body use sugar better. This lowers the amount of glucose in the blood.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how your body uses blood sugar (glucose).

The cause of diabetes varies by type. However, no matter what type of diabetes you have, it can lead to excess sugar in your blood and to much sugar in your blood can lead to serious health problems.

Chronic diabetes: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Potentially reversible diabetes: Prediabetes and gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes: occurs during pregnancy but may resolve after the baby is delivered.

Emergency supplys of Metformin:

Metformin is a prescription only medicine and an Emergency Supply can only be issued if you are currently being prescribed this medication by your GP for Diabetes.  You will need to fill out a questionnaire, which is then reviewed to make sure Metformin is a suitable treatment for you. You will also need to upload proof that you have used this item before. If your order is approved, your Metformin can be sent directly to you.

Always take this medication exactly as directed by your GP.

Keep out of sight and Reach of children.

If you are taking any new medications even over the counter medicines whilst taking Metformin you should make your GP aware to prevent interactions.
